Electric Moke | 4-Seater Holiday Car
There are mornings when you get in your car and think of other things. And there are mornings when you get into the Electric moke, and just like that, you’re already on holiday. Not because you’ve changed your destination. But because you’ve changed your vehicle.

The Legacy
An automotive icon born in 1964 for one reason alone: freedom
The Electric moke was not born to be practical. She was born to be free.
Since 1964, this iconic convertible has travelled along all the roads where life is more beautiful: the Atlantic coastline of Biarritz, the beaches of Île de Ré, the quays of Deauville, the boulevards of Paris in summer, and the Provençal ports of Saint-Tropez, Cannes and Monaco. It belongs to no particular place. It belongs to those who know how to appreciate a journey for what it is.
MOKE International, the manufacturer The original versus the copies
Sixty years on, it’s back. Silent. 100 % electric. Zero emissions. As irresistible as ever. An icon that even won over Brigitte Bardot in its day.
The experiment
That holiday feeling on every journey
There's something happening when you get into a Electric moke.
With the top down, the wind in your hair, the silence of the electric motor – nothing but the sound of the road and your surroundings. Whether you’re on the Boulevard de la Grande Plage in Biarritz, at the harbour in Saint-Tropez, on the quays in Deauville or driving along the coast of the Île de Ré, the feeling is the same: you’re no longer just getting from A to B. You’re simply enjoying the moment.
That’s the electric Moke for you. Not a day-to-day runabout. A machine for making memories.

Why choose an electric convertible?
The electric convertible cars are rare. The Moke is even rarer: four seats, zero emissions, a compact size that fits into any parking space, and a design that no one else offers.

And for special occasions: on the Côte d’Azur, the Moke has become one of the most charming ways to arrive on your wedding day.
The Moke Effect
What other cars don't do
People stop. They look. They smile.
The Electric moke creates something that’s quite rare these days: spontaneity. Conversations with strangers. Photos taken without being asked. A presence in the landscape that can’t really be explained, but which everyone senses.
Some designs stand the test of time because they got something essential right from the very beginning. The Moke is one of them. And because an icon deserves to be looked after as such, its technical servicing is carried out by an official partner on the Côte d’Azur.

Electric Mini Moke: Copied, Never Equalled: The Original Vs. the Imitations
Electric Mini Moke: copied, never equalled – the original versus the imitations
Flattery, it is said, is the most sincere form of admiration. As such, the Mini Moke should feel very admired.
For decades, car manufacturers around the world have tried to replicate its silhouette, its proportions and its spirit. The result: a series of imitations which, unwittingly, prove that there are some things that simply cannot be copied.
And things you can’t make up either, such as type approval.
The findings
Why is the Mini Moke so often imitated?
The answer is in one sentence: the Mini Moke is visually perfect.
Its lines are the result of technical constraints taken to the extreme. Alec Issigonis, its designer, made simplicity his philosophy: no unnecessary lines, no superfluous ornamentation. Every curve, every angle has a purpose. And that is precisely what makes it impossible to reproduce faithfully; one can copy the form, but not the logic behind it.
Born in 1964, the Mini Moke has spanned six decades whilst remaining true to itself. The manufacturers who drew inspiration from it did not have that kind of patience.
Appearance
Copies: what we see, what we don’t see
Models such as the Kate or the Bee Beach are marketed as alternatives to the Mini Moke. And you have to give them credit for one thing: at first glance, the resemblance can be striking.
But on closer inspection, the differences are everywhere, and some of them are not merely stylistic. They are regulatory.
M1 certification: the difference that makes all the difference
This is a point that few sellers of imitation models highlight. The electric Mini Moke distributed by SUNCAR France is type-approved M1, the European regulatory category for fully-fledged passenger cars. It is authorised to drive on all the roads in France urban roads, national roads, expressways, motorways. It is driven with a Standard B driving licence.
Replicas – such as the Kate, Bee Beach and other "mini-convertible" style vehicles – are type-approved, but in a Different category : heavy quadricycles (category B1). These are standard cars, but their regulatory status implies significant restrictions:
- They cannot travel on fast lanes or motorways
- They behave without a driving licence- with a simple B1 permit (motor tricycles, quadricycles equivalent to heavy motor quadricycles)
- Their use is therefore structurally limited to the town and secondary roads
It’s not a quality fault. It’s simply a different type of vehicle, designed for a different purpose, sold in packaging that looks like a proper car.
Before making any purchase, it's worth asking the question: where do I need to ride? And what vehicle legally allows me to do so?
Key points: The electric Moke is type-approved Category M1, just like a car. A Category B driving licence, from the age of 18, and access to all roads open to traffic. Category L quadricycles, however, remain banned from dual carriageways and motorways.
The network and customer service
Buying an electric vehicle also means buying after-sales service, readily available spare parts, and a brand that will still be around in five years’ time. Moke International is an established manufacturer, with an official distribution network present in several countries. At SUNCAR France, the after-sales service is provided by EV Garage Riviera, a specialist in electric vehicles on the Côte d'Azur.
The copies, however, raise a simple question: who do you call when something goes wrong?
The finishes
The electric Moke is meticulously assembled. The aluminium logo on the grille, the quality of the upholstery, the customisation options (steering wheel, colour scheme, seats, wheel rims) – every detail is a testament to genuine industrial craftsmanship.
An imitation can reproduce the silhouette. It cannot reproduce the rigour that lies behind it.
1964
What a copy cannot reproduce: history
The Mini Moke was driven by Brigitte Bardot in Saint-Tropez. She drove into The Italian Job. She lived through the British Sixties, Mediterranean glamour and the golden age of the Côte d’Azur.
This story is not a marketing ploy. It is a fact. And it creates something real: instant recognition, cultural legitimacy, and a presence in the collective imagination that sixty years of photographs, films and memoirs have built up.
When you drive a Moke, people know it. When you drive a copy, they feel it.
The value
Choosing authenticity: what you’re really buying
Choosing the Moke means choosing:
- A brand with a history, first produced in 1964, reimagined as an electric car, officially distributed in France by SUNCAR
- An M1-approved vehicle, driving permitted on all roads: urban, national, expressways and motorways
- Reliable after-sales service : EV Garage Riviera, an EV specialist on the Riviera
- Real customisation : 6 official colour schemes, upholstery options, wheel rims, steering wheel, embroidery, bespoke personalisation
- A defensible investment, the Moke still enjoys a certain status, reputation and demand
And from €449 a month on a lease-purchase scheme, with a flexible deposit and home delivery, the original is no longer out of reach.
-> invest in the original with suitable funding

To conclude
Conclusion: some things simply cannot be imitated
There are some designs that stand the test of time. The Mini Moke is one of them – not by chance, but because it was designed just right from the very start.
Imitations pay tribute, in their own way. But above all, they confirm one thing: when something is really good, everyone wants a piece of it.
We might as well go straight to the source. With a real car. On all roads.
